In America at least, Simple Minds will probably forever be most identified with “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” but they also had quite a few hits before and after that song (“Waterfront,” “Promised You a Miracle,” “Alive and Kicking,” etc). Though their line-up has changed and there have been gaps between new albums, Simple Minds have remained active over the years. In 2011, they embarked on the “5X5 Live” tour, where they performed 5 songs from each of their first five albums. This was followed by a “Greatest Hits +” tour, but Simple Minds are by no means content to just keep playing all the old hits.

In 2014, they returned with “Big Music,” one of their strongest albums to date. In an interview, frontman Jim Kerr says that the album was the result of working on 30-40 song ideas over a period of ‘four or five years.”

“We had to be quintessentially Simple Minds,” he says. “Yet somehow the best Simple Minds have been for a long long time.”
